Why are people so opposed to gay marriage? Why are politicians so goddamned closed-minded? What are they so afraid of? Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness, right? These values go all the way back to when our forefathers declared independence.
There is not liberty without freedom. Freedom of religion, speech, press, assembly, and petition. These are the rights given in the First Amendment of the US Constitution. Maybe ‘freedom to marry whoever the fuck you want’ isn’t in that amendment, but that’s practically splitting hairs. Most people against gay marriage are against it because of their religion. If it weren’t for the Constitution that protects your rights, the very Constitution you all DEFY, you couldn’t even practice the religion that tells you gay marriage is so morally unjust. Maybe you would have to think for yourselves for once instead of looking to someone else for your opinions. Maybe you wouldn’t even be allowed to have opinions. (This was something brought up by Chris Kluwe, I just wanted to expand on it) Just like Kluwe said, hypocrisy doesn’t even begin to describe what is happening here.
These gay men and women are just pursuing happiness, are they not? They are pursuing happiness in the same way any straight individual getting married is pursuing happiness, except they don’t have the same freedoms. I’m not sugar coating it. That is bullshit, and completely fucked up. Open your fucking eyes, cut the rhetoric bullshit
for one goddamn minute and realize what you’re doing. In case you’re too closed-minded to actually see the wrong in what you’re doing, which I would wager most of you are, I’ll tell you. It is pure, fucking evil. To be evil is to make life harder for people, and that is exactly what politicians opposed to gay marriage are doing. Why does a gay couple living in Pennsylvania have to go to a different state, say, New York, to get married? What if the people aren’t so fortunate as to have so many states nearby in which same-sex marriage is legal?
The way I see it, the bottom line is this; if you are against gay marriage, you are against the Constitution, and therefore against the rights of everyone living in the USA, including yourself.
Even if you put everything I just said aside, (which I don’t advise) what is the worst that would come of this? More supporters? Happier people? More money going into the economy? Think about it.
